Saturday 7-16-05 and Sunday 7-17-05
9am - 12pm and 2pm - 5pm on both days
The movements in Xin Jia (new frame) are more demanding on the body than those of Lao Jia (old frame); it is better for fitness and shows more of the application in its movements. Learning Xin Jia will help you to loosen up your body. This will allow you to release the power suddenly with a coiling motion. It is the snap of the coil that characterizes the Xin Jia style. This seminar is a must for the Taiji enthusiast who would like to learn how to properly issue their internal power! (experience in basic Taijiquan will be helpful for this seminar but not required.)

Combat Locks (Xiaoyao Na) By Grandmaster Liang Shou-Yu
Session 1: 9:00AM-noon
Session 2: 1:00PM-4:00PM
The Chinese martial arts have four basic methods: kicks, punches, throws and locks. Locks, called ?na? in Chinese, are highly effective for self defense and are especially useful when dealing with larger opponents. In Grandmaster Liang?s Xiaoyao system, there are thirty-six locks that twist and lock tendons, dislocate bones, and disrupt meridian flow. Using a special training method, akin to tai chi, you can learn how to use all these techniques effectively. After some partner-based practice with this method, these applications will come out automatically in combat. This method for training locks is very easy, natural and practical, useful for self defense, tai chi push hands, and free-style fighting. All levels welcome.

Seminar in Akron Ohio
I am happy to announce that Mike Biggie Laoshi has graciuosly invited me to teach a one day Mantis intensive seminar at his school in Akron Ohio July 30, 2005. This will be an all day event. Tuition is only $65! As always anyone with an open mindset and attitude is welome to any event I put on regardless of style or experience.
The subject matter will focus on Mantis fighting theory, incorporating the Twelve Key Words, into all aspects of combat (Shuai / Na / Ti / Da). I have been asked to focus on the Shuai (throwing) aspects of combat. I can also help anyone with seeing the same applications from their Xing Yi arts as well. Anymore I do not see much of a difference.
Hope to see you there!
Thanks for your support,
Jake Burroughs

Internal Power for Street Fighting and No-Holds-Barred By Sifu Chris Heintzman
10:00AM-noon
Sifu Chris Heintzman (disciple of Grandmaster David Chin and professional No-Holds-Barred Fighter) will conduct a seminar for the modern combatant. Areas of study will include striking, clinch work, grappling and locks. Techniques will be extracted from Combat Kou Style Tai Chi Chuan. Today?s modern combatant tends to dismiss Tai Chi as an effective martial art, however, Sifu Heintzman?s workshop will teach that Tai Chi is not only good for health, but also advantageous for practical applications, such as push hands, San Shou, NHB, or the street. Practitioners from all styles can benefit from the insights Tai Chi has to offer.
Chris Heintzmann?s NHB record is 5/2/0. His last big win was over Mark ?the Shark? Miller in 1:27 of first round by TKO. He is the Heavyweight and Superhvywt champ of the USTWKF and the two-time defending champ of Scott Sheely's Iron Tiger Challenge.

The Great Dao of Sin Tien Wu Gi Qigong & Tai Chi Chuan By Grandmaster David Chin
1:00PM-3:00PM
Grandmaster David Chin will reveal to you the unique Sin Tien Wu Gi method in a three-part workshop. In the first part, students will learn the basic standing meditation, which is helps build the ?wisdom fire?. In conjunction with this powerful bone-marrow-washing qigong, part two will practice tendon-building exercises. These exercises will help the qi move freely. You will learn to move ?a foot on the inside and an inch on the outside? to gain strength, stability, and power. Part three will be dedicated to the Sin Tien Wu Gi Tai Chi Chuan form. This is a ?non-moving? form, which takes very few steps and is a series of four lessons. In order to avoid emptiness during form practice, qigong exercises are used for enhancement. Students of any art will find the teachings of Grandmaster Chin very accessible and beneficial to their current practice.
Grandmaster David Chin is the Grandmaster of the Tibetan Hop Gar system under Ng Yim Ming and Wong Yan Lum. He is director of the health and wellness program for Cape Fear Valley Hospital system.
