The Year of the Metal Hare – February 4th, 2012 to February 4th, 2013
Conventional Chinese New Year Calendars mark the Year of the Dragon starting on January 23rd, 2012, but according to the feng shui calendar, it begins on February 4th, 2012 and ends on February 4th, 2013. Also known as ren chen nian, 2012 will be a year of many natural calamities involving wind, fire and water in countries all over the world. Especially vulnerable are northern and southeastern regions. There will be many typhoons, torrential rains, floods, earthquakes and volcanic eruptions. Maladies involving the digestive and hepatobliary systems will be prevalent. These troubling times will make people cantankerous which will lead to more conflicts and incidents. The American economy will fall into a deep ravine, but its vitality will be stimulated. Promising new advances in science and technology will begin to sprout, especially in the energy industry. The Asian economy will continue to prosper, but just as China reaches a peak, some major crises appear. The Chinese government will initiate a series of policies to recover from a hopeless situation.
The value of American real estate will decline to an enormous extent, but the stock market will have an uptrend. America will implement a series of economic stimulus policies that will enjoy initial success in autumn and winter. Critical military and political events are forecasted for October 2012 and January 2013. This year, a traditionalist strategy is best. Be unperturbed and steady when challenging situations arise. Respond slowly, observantly and decisively. Impatient or irritable reactions can run counter to desires.
The way to health is as follows. Go to bed early and sleep in. Practice more sitting meditation. Be less assertive and aggressive. Invigorate the spleen and nourish the liver. Consume more Chinese yams, brown rice, millet, wolfberry, chrysanthemum, aloe, hawthorn and mutton. Don't smoke and avoid greasy food. Females who are the eldest and males who are the second eldest should be especially focused on health and security.
If your home faces the southeast or north, be particularly attentive to your health. Avoid using southeast or north facing doors if possible. Doors facing the west or northeast will bring good fortune. Don't set up any barriers to these cardinal directions. If your geomantic omen is eastern or southern, consult a feng shui professional.
The mascots for 2012 are the monkey, rat and rooster. Use dog and dragon ornaments prudently. It's better to wrap such ornaments in red cloth and hide them until next year.
