I've always thought that a film on the real story of modern students training at Shaolin would be fascinating. This isn't it however. This is some great Shaolin chicom propaganda. When a Chinese movie opens with a prepubescent full monty, you just gotta raise an eyebrow. This flick credits Taguo headmaster Liu Baoshan as Chief Consultant. It's shot on location, so there's a few grand scenes of hundreds of synchronized practitioners doing modern wushu, like only Taguo can stage. It's a lot of kung fu (or kong fu as subtitled here) flag waving, with atrocious acting and sloganistic dialog, all leading up to the mass demo at the Beijing Olympics. Nevertheless, I was amused as there are numerous shots where I could say "I've been there!" Then again, I'm easily amused. Case and point: I find our forum here very amusing.
