    Commando 2 starring Vidyut Jamwal

Man, I haven't even seen Commando 1 yet.
Vidyut Jamwal and Pooja Chopra will be back in Commando 2!

The good-looking onscreen couple of Vipul Shah’s action thriller Commando will be seen in the film’s sequel too

After getting encouraging response at the box office for his action film Commando, producer Vipul Shah is gearing up for the sequel in association with Reliance Entertainment. A little birdie tells us that the makers are planning to make it on a larger and more lavish scale.

A trade source observed that both the critics and the masses appreciated this action-romance and the decision to follow it up with part two should not come as a surprise. “The overwhelming response inspired me! People including the aged and even the women told me that the theme befits a sequel. Also, it’s not about success as much as it is about appreciation. We will of course touch upon an issue that the audience can relate to. The new Commando will be made on broader and better magnitude. Vidyut Jamwal, Pooja Chopra and music director Mannan Shaah will continue to be a part of it and the movie is expected to hit the floors by September,” said Vipul Shah in an interview.

We certainly liked Vidyut’s sculpted body and his mind-blowing action in the movie along with the sizzling screen presence of the Miss India-turned-Bollywood babe Pooja Chopra. Tell us BollywoodLifers, are you excited to see the jodi once again?

    Well said Vidyut Jamwal!

I doubt mixed martial arts have even been in India for the last 30 years, but given Jawal's quote in the article, I'm going to attribute that to a sloppy reporter.

Funny how actors say they’re training in martial arts: Vidyut Jamwal

Actor Vidyut Jamwal says he has been learning mixed martial arts for the last 30 years. (Hindustan Times)

It’s common for actors to learn the skill and technique of a martial art form to do justice to their action-packed role in a film. Actors Sidharth Malhotra and Sonakshi Sinha also recently spoke about their practice sessions to prepare for their respective projects.

While actor Vidyut Jamwal appreciates others’ effort, he says it’s not possible to learn the specialised fighting style in that brief a time.

“I’ve been training in martial arts for 30 years now. It’s funny when actors say that they are learning the fighting style for their film. I think, in that much time, they can just get a hold of the basic style which works for cinema,” says Jamwal, who believes it’s important for all actors to be passionate about something besides acting. “It can be anything and not necessarily action. I feel this helps you discipline yourself and evolve as an actor,” he says.

Ask him about his schedule, and Jamwal says he tries not to miss training even for a day.

Ask him about his schedule, and Jamwal says he tries not to miss training even for a day. “Training has become a part of my life. I start my day at 4.30am with training, and then at 7.30am, I start shooting for my film. I guess, because I am used to it, it’s not difficult for me anymore,” says the actor, who is working on the sequel of his 2013 film, Commando. “It is a great feeling to be able to work on this film. Since it’s a sequel, people are expecting it to be bigger,” he concludes.
I still haven't seen Commando. Anyone?

    Adah Sharma

Post 'Jagga Jasoos', Adah Sharma signs 'Commando 2' with Vidyut Jammwal

DNA WEB TEAM | Wed, 27 Apr 2016-12:41pm , dna webdesk

She has been bagging good roles in Bollywood and has made a name for herself in Tollywood

Adah Sharma has just signed her next Bollywood film and is on cloud nine. Kshanam actress will now be seen in Commando 2 that stars Vidyut Jammwal. Commando was a 2013 film that was produced by Vipul Shah and starred Vidyut Jammwal and Pooja Chopra in the lead roles.

Producer Vipul Shah is the man behind Commando 2 as well and Vidyut is said to be elated about this project. He told media earlier that producer Vipul Shah understands action and can make fantastic action films. Commando was a full-on action film which showcased Vidyut's martial arts skills and other action training. Deven Bhojani will be the director of this sequel.

Adah Sharma also has a role in Ranbir Kapoor's Jagga Jasoos. She has been bagging good roles in Bollywood and has made a name for herself in Tollywood. Adah has also done a song in the Simbu-Nayanthara movie Idhu namma aalu called 'Maanam Waiting' with Simbu.
I confess, I don't know who Adah is. I watch Bollywood, but not much Tollywood. I actually like Tollywood more because it's more wacky, but Tollywood films aren't as easily accessed by me.

    First forum review

No, this isn't about the Cali Governator. It's Vidyut Jammwal, a Bollywood action star that I've been meaning to check out for years now. I still haven't seen Commando 1 but 2 came up on Amazon Prime and I figured it wasn't the sort of film that I needed to see in order. And I was quite right about that.

Vidyut is beefy, a hunky yoked bod of chiseled muscle, enough so to give Marko Zaror a run for his money. And the action ain't bad. He delivers some crazy flying kicks and some wacky slo-mo choreography (all to characteristic of Bollywood - I swear if they just cut out all the slo-mos, this genre would have movies under 2 hours like most films), plus he has an amazing parkour game for someone so big. The plot is beyond dumb, and there's a lot of time spent talking about the plot, which is even dumber, but the opening fight scene is amusing, as is the mid-fight (with Assassin's Creed assassins, complete with hidden wrist daggers, hoods and those bouncy stilts for no particular reason at all) and the finale fight (some from shooter's perspective). I would just fast forward to those.

There's a coldness to it too. His female hottie cop sidekick has a great opening scene where she lovingly sniffs her smoking gun after shooting a gangster, in the knee to down him, just to shoot him dead after mocking him. She also shoots an unarmed villain in cold blood in a scene where most movies would have the heroes just capture them. But she's really dumb through the rest of the film and her huge eyebrows are really distracting. It's really all about Vidyut and how many abs he can show off. Dude has more abs than I have muscles in my whole friggin body. But he can move. His signature technique is sliding across the ground (asphalt, cement, whatev) on his knees to evade bullets or to get a better position to shoot someone.

And the soundtrack is hilarious - like so many Bollywood actioners, the title is built into the soundtrack playing during action sequences, so there's this constant chorus of 'comandooooo!' throughout the flick. There's only one dance number and that's during the end credits. I'm posting it below for your edumafacation.

I'd love to see Vidyut crossover into something less Bollywood. He's got skillz.

    More on Adah Sharma

Adah Sharma: My mother trained me in dance as well as martial arts

    By - TNNOnkar KulkarniCreated: Nov 23, 2019, 01:00 IST

A trained martial artist, it comes as no surprise that Adah Sharma loves performing stunts in her films. The actress will be seen doing some high-octane action sequences in her upcoming film, Commando 3. In a conversation with BT, she spoke about her bond with co-star and fellow martial arts enthusiast Vidyut Jammwal, how she used her martial arts training for self-defence and the kind of man she wants in her life. Excerpts:

In the trailer of Commando 3, we see you doing action, you also upload videos performing martial arts on social media. What is it about martial arts that’s most appealing to you?

Since childhood, I have been inclined towards dancing and physical training. I like anything that’s related to dance and gymnastics. I feel that dance and action are similar, as both involve choreography. It is also about timing, discipline, focus and pushing your limits. I am trained in Kathak, where you do your chakkars and come back to the same spot. In action, too, you do your kicks and return to the same spot. My inspiration has been my mother. Not only did she train me in Kathak, but also in Kalaripayattu and Mallakhamb.

Did you learn any new forms of martial arts for Commando 3?

For the film, I worked on my Kalaripayattu skills. I undertook training in Silambam, which is an art form from Tamil Nadu. I also learnt to use nunchucks. I polished my sharpshooting skills, too, which I had trained in during Commando 2. I play an encounter specialist, and so, I had to look like a pro. If you aren’t confident while holding a gun, it shows on the screen. I enjoy shooting as it feels like meditation. You take a deep breath, hold your breath and pull the trigger. You need to concentrate a lot during the process. In the film, I am also doing hand-to-hand combat.
Knowing martial arts also helps you with self-defence. Have you ever faced a situation where it has come to your rescue?
When I was in seventh grade, I was walking home after my tuitions. There were a few boys who were throwing stones at me. I turned back and asked them to stop doing that, but they didn’t listen. I told them once again, but this time, one guy came too close to me and asked, “Kya karogi?” At the time, I remember my uncle had taught me, Tai Chi. I used one of the moves and hit him on his face. The next thing I remember seeing was his hand on his face, and the palm soaked in blood. I freaked out and started walking briskly. I never turned back to look at him.

Your co-star, Vidyut Jammwal, is a trained martial artist, too. Did the two of you bond over this?

Vidyut is one of my closest friends today. We became friends on the sets of Commando 2. Yes, we did start talking to each other about our love for fitness and martial arts. However, it is his sense of humour that we bonded over a lot. In terms of fitness, I must say that his physical and mental strength inspires me. He does push-ups using glass bottles. With his physical strength, the bottles could get crushed, but he keeps his body light enough with his mental strength. I am always surprised with the way he breaks bricks with his bare hands.

Has your role as Inspector Bhavana Reddy evolved in the sequel?

In Commando 2, she was a corrupt cop. She was evil as she would even kill people for a branded, expensive bag. This time around, she is a serious cop. However, we have retained her funny antics. The character still has that sense of humour, as people had liked it. This time she is a lot stronger.

In Commando 2, you had Esha Gupta as your female co-star, this time around you are sharing screen space with Angira Dhar. Is it important for you to get along with your co-stars and have a friendly equation with them?

Yes, we did. I feel during any film project, you should get along with all your co-stars, especially female co-stars. If, as a woman, you don’t respect another woman, how can you expect men to respect women? So, I have great respect for all my female co-stars. Not only them. I also respect all the women who work behind-the-scenes, day and night to make us actresses look beautiful and make it possible for us to nail the characters we play on screen.
On the personal front, there was a buzz that you were dating a businessman.
(Looks surprised) Who is this businessman? I am very much single. I want to urge my fans to find the right guy for me. I need a man who can make perfectly round dosas and the best chutney. He should love animals, do backflips and should be a happy person.
