omg-Heathkit! I built my first guitar amplifier from Heathkit. I still have it.
It sucks, too. But my dad was an electronic engineer, so he convinced me to build one, because he used to build amplifiers, and speaker enclosures, Hi-Fi's, etc. He worked on the development of the radar systems for the Apollo missions.
It was a good Father and Son project.
