Dumbest comic ever?
What is this?
Spring Tomato Storm Pokey the Penguin. Here is the index of all his "adventures." Index I'm confused. IronFist

I always found issue 75 of Superman to be the dumbest comic ever.
Until now.

[/pretentious_critic] The understated eloquence of "Pokey the Penguin" catches many first-time readers by surprise. But it is the subtle mastery of the comic art form that many miss. Indeed, if one can get past the almost uncontrollable urge to shoot oneself in the hand after perusing the first three, perhaps four, strips; if one can control the hysterical laughter that bubbles upward spontaneously (perhaps tinged with vomitus) and is abruptly cut off by awkward self-realization that laughter will draw others to one's cubicle who may not "see the funny" that is Pokey the Penguin -- if one can get past all these things, then the true art shines forth.
It is the very amateurishness of the strip that hides its subtlety. The artists' own tortured souls are reflected in the quick, stick-figure sketches; the MS Paint color palette; the lazily typed-in Courier font that substitutes for more detailed lettering. But most of all, their frustration at the foibles of modern life is indicated in half-finished episodes like "Pokey and the Pirates," wherein half the panels are scribbled out and the pirates never make their appearance. And yet there is hope in the artists' vision, too: In "The Abandoned Castle," Pokey and his new friend discover greener pastures and King George, obviously a godlike father figure who will carry these hapless, hopeless nonbelievers to a better place. Or at least give them a piece of birthday cake. But the most significant indicator of the artists' goal is their contact link: "POKEY THE PENGUIN LOVES TO" -- what Pokey loves to do, exactly, is a mystery, although the final, unlinked 3 words: "READ YOUR EMAIL" hints at the possibilities. The artists themselves have left the answers to the clouded realm of ambiguity, tagging themselves only as "THE AUTHORS." So many subtle clues, such mastery of technique, can only be the hallmark of a comic strip genuis. Or genuises. Only time, and Pokey, can tell. [/end_pretentious_critic]

I haven't read any of the links, but I really hate "Garfield" "Family Circus" "Love Is..." and "Cathy"

I think "THE AUTHORS" was a mentally retarded 3 legged dog with terrets (sp?) syndrom.

ya know, my critique was a humorous little comment ... but if you go to Pokey's main page, here:
Pokey's Stupid Main Page you'll find at the bottom a link to "The Pokey Principle," which is a 90-page critique (with statistical diagrams) of this boring-ass strip by a theoretical analyst who obviously has too much time on his hands. Me, I'm going back to Strongbad cartoons.
