One of the most important martial art exercises

This is actually a form of basic qi gong. I have helped people with rather serious conditions using this simple exercise.

This is great for acute and chronic pain and I find that if I do this after I pull a muscle it heals very quickly. This is one of a series of exercises that enables you to fight using internal martial arts applications. This is one of the best kept secrets in internal martial arts and its easy to do.

enjoy

Its me in the back of Qing Yang Gong Daoist temple in Chengdu. Its the area where the monks live so people don't go there very much. Just out of the camera angle there is drying laundry and new construction. During weekdays it is empty so its a nice place to train and a good background for filming. Just walking around the temple you can see people doing some of the strangest qi gong exercises. Sometimes I wonder if people don't just make them up on the spot. That day I saw a woman twirling counterclockwise like a Sufi dervish and another old man bent oddly with one knee pitched in at a 90 degree angle moving like a tree in the wind....for a half hour of so. Most of the daoists I know are really down to earth, nice people. Many of the Chinese elite are daoist and government officials go to the local mountains to learn strategy. There is more detail in this months kungfumagazine about Qing Cheng Pai, which is a Daoist mountain at the foot of the Himalayas and at the heart of Sichuan with some very interesting things.
