Zhang Li Peng Tournament

It was good. Lots of fun. met Gene and D0rkface. will post videos and clips later on. i just got home about 20 minutes ago. I will post clips of some of the forms online. the houston students impressed me the most next were the manhatten Shi Goulin people. And for how long Li Peng has been in the USA, he ahs a pretty big following already.

*edit
we left the tournament early on saturday because the tai chi wasnt all that great. we headed down into manhatten and went to chinatown then went to see one of my Sifu's old teacher SHi Yan Ming, but he wasnt there. I was never in the school before, and if I didnt have my sifu there to shwo me, i would have never found it. We stayed for about 15 minutes to watch and all they did was the wubuchuan/chan (sp??) form.

master demostration I couldnt film. Yee's Hung Gar did a good lion dance in the begining. then they had some demo's there was a tang soo do school there demoing which i think everyone found entertaining. but the show picked up when two of the houston kids came out and did the little kid form with all the wierd disfiguring stretching. those kids (about 4/5) i think stole the show. the moinks performed excellent too.

that is all I have to say. will post links to pictures later in a day or so.

Thanks Shaolinlueb!

There was one other Shaolin monk - Shi Yanshang. He was the big monk in full robe next to Guolin. I'm very interested in him - he's supposed to be really good, but it's the first time I met him.

It was a small event, but quite fun for Shaolin family. It was great to see so many old friends and make some new ones. Definately one of the most laid-back tournaments I've ever been too, almost like in internal school event. But I don't want to give too much away either look for the write up in our Jan/Feb 2005 issue, on stands in Dec 2004.

BTW, SLL, you look great in that got qi? shirt.

Gene,

Thanks for the update. Whos Yanshang? Is he doing something at Guolins school or is he just visiting? Guolin's got Justin and Hengshan teaching at his school right?

He's with Guolin now...

...but he may well be opening his own place soon. I'm not sure on the details yet.
