It has to be the whip (8 section staff).
Why, because I can't do it, kinda like Liv Tyler....

Three section staff...speed, power, distance and close in fighting ability. Completely adaptable and folds up for easy travel and concealment.

Second choice would be a pair of thick butterfly knives for something more up close and personal.

Fun Factor Flying Guillotine...but it would never work! My favorite Kung Fu movie as a kid: Master of the Flying Guillotine.

well that's great and all, but I personally would not use a waxwood staff.
That staff is usually for the 6.5 pole routine in wingchun. Which is a style I don't really have anything to do with.
Rattan, unpeeled, eyebrow height is what I prefer.
I also like oak and ash staff's of comparable dimensions although not crazy for the tapered ends, but meh.

Kung Fu is good for you.
It was a copy of the Japanese samaras sword but longer and heavier. During the Ming dynasty, the Japanses pirates invaded Chinese coast line. General Qi Ji-Quang invented the Miao Dao. It scared the shi! out of those Japanese pirates at that time - You call your weapon samaras sword? I'll show you what a samaras sword suppose to look like.

Seems like the Chinese and the Japanese are still locked in their centuries long grudge match.

while i may defend myself with a stick, if I was intent on "doing" someone, I would use a gun.
;D

I always thought short weapons like axes, iron ruler, butterfly knife were pretty cool. I'm kinda put off them though because most seem to always be paired for sets. Great for ancient combat or training your body equally, but I think I'd be more likely to use single weapon skills for self defence. Finding one improvised weapon is lucky enough. Thus, I'd go for sabre or cane.
