MightyB, you can find a pic of a cat holding a sword and you can't answer my Comic-con Cosplay Sword Hottie challenge? What gives?

You know, I can only think of three times offhand when cats ever appeared in our publications (except for tigers of course).
1995 Winter: Shaolin and Immortal's blood Heaven's Chi Dim Mak By James Lacy and Lindsay Anglen. This article had a long seated qigong photo demonstration and this white cat sits down right in front of Lacy for many of the shots. It's a total feline photo bomb.
1999 October: In the Publisher's Corner, editor Martha Burr had photos of her cats because this was an Animal styles themed issue. Martha loves cats.
There was also a photo of my cat getting acupuncture, but I can't remember which issue that was in right now and I can't figure out how to tease that out of our search engine.
It should be noted that cat photos in print don't have nearly the viral power of cat photos on the web.

I missed posting our 15K milestone here because I was distracted by some cat videos.

Lucas, dear friend, you could make a living on the web generating 'likes'. It's probably a more profitable endeavor than knife making.
My guess is that it has been the meme cards that drove the viral bump. That was my intention when developing those from the beginning. We publish them on facebook when an issue is nearing the end of its run on the newsstand, both for the facebook promo and a sort of 'last chance on the newsstand' effort. It really took off this time.

You're probably right, MightyB. Someday I'll figure a way to incorporate cat meme cards. Until then, however, we're doing just fine this week.
