JACKIE CHAN: Tiger aid
26/12/2011 by Alan Cole in the UK
Action star to be honoured in the New Year for his save the tiger commitments
Jackie Chan is set to receive an award from the charity WildAid in honour of his campaigning work in support of wildlife conservation.
The annual WildAid benefit event will take place in San Francisco on May 11, 2012.
The martial arts star has been a strong supporter of the campaign to save the tiger and regularly backs WildAid China.
In particular Chan has been instrumental in bringing attention to the issue of tiger body parts being used in traditional medicines in China. The practice is seen as a major factor which is pushing tigers towards extinction.
The demand fuels illegal poaching of tigers which are also killed for sport and to obtain their skins. Tigers are also under threat from deforestation activities.
With only 3,000 tigers remaining in the wild the campaign to protect these beautiful creatures is becoming an urgent conservation issue.
Chan has been active speaking about his previous belief that medicine with tiger bones would heal you. But has since urged people around the world who follow the practice to stop their consumption of tiger bones and tiger medicine - as well as tiger skins - because the market for these products leads to the killing of tigers.
In essence his message, which has also been broadcast in public service films and promoted on his personal website, is if people stop buying tiger products poachers will stop killing tigers, an endangered species.
The problem is so severe that it is estimated that over the past decade, more than 1,000 tigers have been killed in order to meet the consumer demands for their body parts in part due to the tradition for tiger bone medicine that extends back to the 10th century.
In order to protect wild tigers in 1993 China's State Council banned the tiger bone trade. But the ban does not totally contain China's tiger trade say campaigners. This is due to the market demand for tiger products and allegedly a less than perfect enforcement system.
Jackie Chan is one of Asia's biggest stars for his kung fu action and comedy roles as well as straight acting, appearing in more than 100 feature films. The actor is also a major philanthropist and a UNICEF Goodwill Ambassador.
However, tiger conservation is perhaps the best known issue he is associated with, especially in Asia, where he uses the motto: when the buying stops, the killing can too...

Let me know
Mouth Boxers have not the testicular nor the spinal fortitude to be known.
Hence they hide rather than be known as adults.
However, we should discuss your continued support of our WildAid Tiger Claw Championship for KFTC20 YEARS privately soon. Our sponsorship packages are in development, so I'll have more info for you later.
As for the WildAid event, I'll ask if they'll be into some sort of donation from you. They do know your company through your previous donations, and as this is a fundraiser, I understand their might be a silent auction, but it's big money as you can see from the link. It's $175 to get in the door and starts at $500 for dinner (most seats are $1000).
