Thread: Ng chan wing chun

Anybody can name actions based on what they see but the thinking behind them may suggest otherwise. It's an easy trap to fall into if you (gen) haven't been taught correctly by somebody that also has the wrong ideas.

There is a good reason for wu sau/fak sau. There is man sau in BJ but not in that bit and WTF is "claw hand" all about.

We have to remember that BJ teaches us ideas for if something has gone wrong.

It's the Chinese character for 'claw'. I wonder if it is the long bridge (cheung kiu) double lap sau? Sorry if I get the terms wrong, I haven't learned Biu Jee so piecing together the puzzle here and there.

    2. Gwai jang horizontal palm [upper, lower]
    3. Man lou sau (literally 'asking road hand', asking hand?) [not the present day 'begging for rice hand' that is called man lou sau. This is used when we don't know the opponent's attack, and use this to receive the attack]
    4. Left right double gan sau and turning horse (juen ma), wu sau/fak sau or man sau (depending on lineage) [*1]
    5. Left right biu sau
    6. Double claw hand
    7. For countering rear attacks, forward waist bend 3 times, retract fist completion.

[*1] Removed reference to 'boot' sau. I think there is a typo with the character (pronounced 'boot/but'). This is the character for 'neck'. I believe it should be which is the character for move, dispel.
In any case, I think it refers to the wu sao/fak sao movement (see action @1:58 of this video)
Could it be displace (pak/wu) & neck (fak) ?

This form has the most complete style of elbow attacks. [To this day I have not met anyone able to evade my elbow attacks. I 'hit target' [1] on my own teacher back in the day]. Wing Chun Kuen's elbow attacks and knee attacks are definitely unlike any other martial arts.

Man lou sau (asking hand), I don't dare speak about seizing the knife but it is very good for seizing the pole, not bad for killing people either. [Back in the days when I was learning, I trained furiously to achieve the quickest methods for killing people. My teacher often said I was too brutal, he had me close my eyes and practice Siu Nim Tau allowing the killing aura be buried within.]

Gan sau. Do not use it to block kicks. It's main purpose is to turn the body to ward off sneak attacks, blocking.

Biu sau. Definitely for killing. Won’t even know how they died. Very good use, but definitely not the 'simple feeble minded applications' from present day video sifus. How to use it, some of my students know. Here I'll leave you in suspense.

    ==================
[1] he uses the term 'jung ziu' which means that one has 'suffered an attack'. Could be an actual physical attack, practical joke, confidence trick, etc.

Claw hand. When in use, compared to the Taiji lotus kick it has greater power, is more ruthless, and more able to break arms.

Finally for countering rear attacks, a stooping movement resembling gymnastics, resisting many kinds of sneak attacks from behind.

    Bonsoir,
