    Lipeng

That was a fun tournament. Here's our old cover story on Lipeng: Transformation of a Monk by Martha Burr. A lot of this article was derived from research Martha did for her PBS documentary Shaolin Ulysses.

my nephew used to train with him.

while his skill is good he tends to be an absentee sifu.

most of the training andinsruction is done by others.

He tends to be more interested in his film career then running the school/gym.

almost zero applications and forget about any sparring (at least for the novices with a years experience)

    The youtube trailer...

    Man From Shaolin, trailer
    Man From Shaolin
    Starring Zhang Li Peng
32nd generation Chinese Shaolin Fighting Monk Li Bao Xin must immigrate to New York City to look after young Janie, his six-year-old niece. Struggling to make a new life, Li Bao will face challenges that test his character more than his physical strength. Through it all, his mind remains filled with the heroic stories of the Shaolin Temple, a great tradition that defines him, but also makes his assimilation to western culture more difficult. While in China he was a venerated master, in America he is nobody. To make a life for him and Janie, Li Bao must contend with a modern society, where his great fighting skills and heroic lineage have little meaning. He will have to decide which is more important, his dreams or his family. Written by Richard T. Wong
Looks like another reluctant fighter flick.

    More from Zhang Lipeng

Zhang Lipeng sends me these press release emails, mostly about his Man From Shaolin project. I've told him to just post them himself, but he doesn't.

The former 32nd generation Shaolin monk teach free lessons online.

We are helping actors and none actors to show them how to control mind & body.

How to relax, how to achieve a healthy body.

    How to defend yourself.

The guys that came to the US from China in the 90's

Re: The PRC Shaolin guys that came to the US from PRC in the 90's

Really enjoyed this film. Li Peng impressed me, he came across as a real person in the film. The film not only introduces his wife but his parents and siblings. The other guys? Hum. Not so much. The director could have dug a bit deeper into their stories.

I am looking forward to this. I am sure the acting is not that great but it is pure Shaolin and not movie martial arts from what I can see.

    The Last Kung Fu Monk

Here is the synopsis from Netflix:

When a car accident orphans his young nephew, a Shaolin monk journeys to the United States to look after the lad and open his own martial arts academy, but he soon gets caught up in a dangerous kung fu underworld.
What is this dangerous Kung Fu underworld? And how do I find it? I have so many questions.
