There are plenty of knife throwers in the USA who have way more experience than this young man.
You have to practice, practice and practice some more.
Old tech is cool, but it does not beat my 1911.
Mouth Boxers have not the testicular nor the spinal fortitude to be known.
Hence they hide rather than be known as adults.

Throwing anything is a balance act.
1 Accuracy
We may throw pebbles first. We then throw bottle caps and then nin ja stars. We throw chopsticks and bottles. Finally throw pocket knifes.
2 Power and distance.
In short, start with light weight objects in short distances.
We practice in stages.
Increase weights and distances (1,2,3,4 and 5 feet) in time.
Target tree or wood frame, flour bag, bean bag etc etc.
Actually, if we throw pebbles well. That is already very good for most of us.
We want to inflict annoying pain with non lethal force to deter unfriendly.
With availability of taser guns, all throwing skills may not be needed.
Pull out a fake taser gun. Deterrent plenty enough.
Darting rope is with throwing skills plus roping skills.
Tie up a foe like a cowboy. That is.
If you throw knives, you may run out of knives.
If you throw a dart with a rope, you may recover and reuse the dart.
Something to ruse on.
