Jay Ingram, an applied physics prof and a Shaolin monk did this on the show "daily planet" on discovery a couple of years back.

Watched a short skit on the toob once and these monks were beating the snot out of one another with these long poles. They would break them over each others heads and such. Well, one drew back and swung his stick and it just fell in half. If anyone is giving TCMA a bad name it is these silly monks that go around trying to look like supermen. Are these guys really monks? Or are they simply calling themselves monks?

Most monks, by definition, believe in paranormal things. Fake monks might not.

    Who is more real?

But sadly, Ting Shifu himself has perform parlor tricks in the past; for example, the increasing the length of one's arm which he performed in 1991 in San Fran.
