    Legends of Kung Fu 2011

Who is going to Legend of Kung Fu this year?
    Anyone?
If you are, would you guys be interested in meeting up Friday night before the tournament for dinner?
Last year we had it at Twin Peaks Restaurant

(Gene, as always, I am your personal chauffeur if you are coming and I got a new car befitting your legendary status this time. )

    Edit to add:
Since Gene's seminar ends late, we are planning on meeting @ Twin Peaks between 8:30-9PM. for late dinner or just drinks. Your choice.

    So far we have:
    Me
    Gene
    Philbert

    New car? Niiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiice

I knew there was some reason to keep this forum going. Nothing like a personal chauffeur to Twin Peaks in a hot new ride.

I'm totally in. In fact, I'm scheduled to give a seminar at 5:30 on Friday (I'll have to double check the time, but I asked for it to be early to allow for some Twin Peakage)

If they would quit CHARGING people to fight, I'd bring my whole team and wreck you Texas boys proper.

MK, you got a fighter in the 180-200 class? I have a c0cky student that needs a lesson. I've thrown him around a few times already, but I think he needs to get knocked the F out for real. I might even be willing to put up $100 for see that happen.

Hey Gene, you still have my cell# right? Just text me if you still do. If not I can PM it to you.

Well MK? xcakid might put some money down. Nevertheless, it would be great to see you there, fighters or not. Twin Peaks, dude. Come out for that.

Legends of Kung Fu New Sparring ?

Michael Aronson stated that they were going to introduce new sparring rules to rid the chinese martial arts scene of "Karate Rules" and introduce Traditional Classical Kung Fu Fighting Rules

Curious on how this was received and what exactly are the differences between the old rules and the new rules.

wasn't this called Lei Tai fighting?

    then it was called Sanshou

now it is called san da

why is it there is so much TALK about fighting and so little actual fighting?

Sadly this is another romantic attempt by Chinese stylist trying to prove to others that they know how to fight and that their art is deadly!

we proved we know how to fight by going into every format we could find (boxing, kickboxing, muay thai, sanshou, san da and mma) and winning

    but maybe we're just weird

Indeed, but their are some, who still believe that Kwai Chang Caine's fighting skill is a true presentation of CMA fighting skills.

Part of the issue is Jimmy Wong doesn't work with the boxing commission because they want a "tournament" format. Texas rules state you can only have 1 fight per day, so he dances around sanctioning and bonding to keep the traditional elimination format.

I'm not 100% versed in the Texas rules, but real fighters from Oklahoma won't compete in it because you get an automatic 30-day suspension from the Boxing Commission for competing in an unsanctioned match.
