Look up Robert dos Remedios, he's had a book out for over 2 years now called Men's Health Power Training. You can also go to his site over at coachdos.com as well.
My cardio is superb at the moment. I train guys that compete, which means I pretty much train to compete, as well. But you are right, I don't lift much. I integrate kettlebells and heavy throwing dummies into class (and into the Tabata sets), and I do a lot of bodyweight stuff, but I rarely lift weights.

All of that is really solid stuff, but a well-balanced strength program will aid in a number of things:
    1) you get stronger, of course
    2) prevention of injury
    3) increased muscular endurance
    4) increased power endurance

There is more to that, but the most important thing is to get on a structured, periodized program. You can mix in the KB, bodyweight, and such stuff with that because it will keep you well-rounded. Obviously for someone like yourself there is no need to attempt a discussion for the need to cross-train. (which I can't understand why there are some people out there who still don't see the value in such a thing. None of us would even be practicing the martial arts we have today without CT.)
