Ok, but I was talking about the son, not for your education as I know that you in fact know more about them than I do.

my sifu learned an early version of clf from chan goon baks lineage in addition to ma seks fut ga line back in the day...he says that originally, CLF and hung kuen looked VERY similar.

(remember the opinion of lions roar influence on both lines?)

What does everyone think of learning both CLF AND Hung Ga?(so as to compliment eachother).

Master Bucksam Kong says both are very similar but CLF is much more agressive.

I have a personal theory-CLF was originally a Hung Kuen system.
Hung-Ga forms are both kuen-faht (Fighting techniques) and Gung-Faht (power developmental techniques) in their forms. They are played slower, with emphasis on rooting and one breath, one strike power generation.
    But nobody fights like that.
So here comes this young upstart, Chan Heung. He starts playing his Hung-Ga forms, the same way he fights-fast, aggressive, barrages.
His Sifu scolds him saying,"No! You cannot play the forms like that."
Chan argues,"Why not? You should fight the way you train! If I want to develop power, I'll just develop some cool dummies, with weighted arms an' stuff"
"Look, Ah-Chan," an exasperated Sifu said, trying to retain his composure.
    "You just can't. It wouldn't be Hung-Ga."
    "M'Hai Ngoh-ge Kuen-Faht!" (It's not our method)
"Choy Lei Faht!" (Blast your method!!) the young Chan responded.
"I'll just call it something else!"

-the rest is history (his story)

("Choy!" is a term used to blast away bad luck, demons, gwais, or spells)
"My Gung-Fu may not be Your Gung-Fu.
    Gwok-Si, Gwok-Faht"

"I will not be part of the generation
    that killed Kung-Fu."

    ....step.
