Judo
Rick talked about kazushi, how if we want to pull, push first to get a reaction
Tai Otoshi
Pull the sleeve, step behind, make sure the rear hand is pushing (in the direction you want uke to go), and get low.
Randori
Jimmy (1st time): I got Jimmy with a couple foot sweeps that planted him on his butt.
Rick: Threw me all around
Jimmy again: This time he had dominant grips and threw me
BJJ Jimmy Taught: No gi
Guard submission series
Arm Press from guard- shrimp to side, one knee presses uke's chest, the other his back, push the shoulder back
Shrimp to side the same way, far foot from hip to bicep to jump triangle
That doesn't work roll to omo plata
Omo plata doesn't work underhook uke's leg and roll them over
Rolled with Kevin- traded positions, no subs
Rolled with ?- traded positions, I think he might have caught me with something don't remember??

Team Balance BJJ at South Hills Judo
Before class did some light squats (100 lbs on a bar that I don't know the weight of, old school bar. Actually the plates at the judo club only go up to 25lbs. That's why I'll start powerlifting next week and haven't been at the club. Plus the floor probably isn't good for dropping deads) and dynamic stretching (leg swings/arm swings/neck & body rotations)
Drilled armbar from guard
Drilled Sasae Tsurikomi Ashi
Uke stacks, you can
a) grab the far knee and roll to a face down armbar
b) underhook the near leg and swing the far leg for a sweep
Worked pendulum sweep from guard
Pendulum sweep to omo plata
Rolled with a newer guy, armbarred him once. Explained to him the importance of the far underhook for sidemount after I took his back.

MMA
Warm up- shrimp to wall, wall crawl, sprint repeat- 3 min
half guard- on side with underhook, use other side hand to block punches from the other hand (around the bicep)
if uke throws with the underhooked hand, swim to the back
block punch from guard, opposite hand comes under and back crawl
half guard sweeps, (old school and plan b) same as submission wrestling version except buck uke forward to avoid punches and get the foot faster
Sparring
Stand up vs. Kevin
I landed some good punches, so did he, we both scored leg kicks, I reached for too many of his. the last time i was training standup was October for a Sanshou fight, he told I could throw him if I caught it, I was more focused on blocking with the legs, Kevin landed some really good body kicks
Rolled with Craig (or Greg?) he got me once with an anaconda
Stand up with Bobby, traded punches and leg kicks, landed some good punches, ate a lot of kicks, I gassed out early in this round. I'm not used to doing stand up stuff.
Hit the bags a bit, not timed or anything.

8/27 The fast twitch story begins
Started lifting, with the expressed purpose of getting stronger. Since "push" is my weakest day I started with that. I don't want to lift anything I can lift more than 6 times, this may take a few sessions to feel out.

I also rode my bike to the gym and back home. Didn't do too many exercises becuase I'm going to judo/bjj tonight.
Judo:
Kata Guruma: Go in with a wide low base, overhook the sleeve hand powerfully, head up under the shouler, put your ear to the mat. Come to a controlling position.
Tani Otoshi: Offensive and defensive.
BJJ
Chill Dog Guard Position to:
Triangle
Armbar
Omoplata
Gogoplata
Rolled with:
Steve: He took me down and took my back resulting in choke twice. He also armbarred me.
Josh: Good round of rolling, we went 1 1/2 minute over the round time (5 min) with the result of me being caught in a choke.
Borris: Took me down (he's a wrestler), he gave me some advice. In no gi to have a wrestling posture, and to keep my feet back. He slapped my leg every time they were under me and not back. A little difference between gi and no gi. Borris submitted me twice.
Got beat by all today, still a great practice.

I didn't land anything, had my opponents off balance a couple times. Managed to alright defensively.
BJJ (no gi)
Darce Choke: You have side control. Switch your hips and get your knee under uke's close shoulder to trap the arm. Your arm traps the head and close arm, block hips with other arm. Sprawl hips out and make your way to north south.
Kimura when uke defends (from north south): Uke is grabbing his own thigh or his hands together. Trap his hand down with your elbow, lift up on his.
Went over arm triangle from kesa gatame.
Rolling: I got submitted once. For takedowns Rick gave me some advice: To pummel in close and never back up. He said even in Judo being in close makes things a lot easier (your hips don't have to move to far, movements not telegraphed).
