I agree with that Knifefighter UFC 1: That's just fine

Nope, now I'm even more confused. See, when I assumed by "fighter" you meant "one with the will to continue fighting", I could understand how you might believe training methods would have no impact on one's "fighter" status. I would think you're wrong, and your sig file would seem to contradict you, but it's a comprehensible position.

On the other hand, if by "fighter" you mean "one skilled in fighting", I have no idea how you come to the idea that one is born a fighter and training methods don't matter. If it all came down to birth, and we can't affect it by training, what the hell are we doing here?

Besides setting up the Ross/Gimp deathmatch, I mean.

Please elaborate on your "natural fighter, irrelevant training" theory.

    It will answer several things:

1- Can GC, who claims to be a master of kung fu, actually use his supposed skills?

2- It is a an almost perfect matchup of "street" TMA vs. "sport" MMA. GC has spent alost his entire MA life training in TMA's, while Ross has broken from that mold and has been following the MMA model. Which model is better?

3- If GC beats Ross, it will go a long way towards shutting me up with my MMA rhetoric.

    Green Cloud;

Why not just postpone your privates or get someone else to teach them? I'm sure you must have many people who could teach them. Besides, whats a few dollars over your honor?

By the way, you will be fighting in a ring or on a swain matted floor. Whichever you guys choose. "Sneeks" will be a non-issue and 3/8" of hard rubber on a martial arts shoe would not offer you any 'cushion' for your recovering hip. The ring is padded and gives and you obviously know what the matts are all about. These surfaces will offer all the support your hip needs.

I'm not about to make this personal; two of my classmates are fighting, and I intend to make sure it is fair and no one gets hurt. If you don't want a ref,. that is just a bad call on your part. Do you actually want to hurt Dave permantly or risk permanant damage to yourself? That would be downwright stupid if you did. And not very honorable.

You are basically saying that your skill set of martial arts is better than Dave Ross's and you challenged him to prove it. He accepted. Make the proper arrangements to honor the challenge or quit challenging people. You will only make an A$$ out of yourself if you backpeddle or keep trying to change rules, dates, apparel requirements, etc.

It's time to put up or shut up.

The better fighter will win. Personally, I HAVE NO IDEA WHO WILL WIN THIS. I HAVE NOT SEEN EITHER GUY DO THIER THING FOR OVER 14 YEARS. I PERSONALLY AM VERY CURIOUS TO SEE THE OUTCOME.

Best of Luck to Both of You~!

Several other things we have found to be good:

Both fighters sign informed consent and release of liability forms.

Fighters do not shake hands first. This rules out any "before the bell" dirty tactics. Both fighters start on opposite sides of the room/mat/ring.

Each person has a second. The match is not over until the second throws in the towel. If a fighter taps, his second must throw in the towel. This way there is no argument about whether or not there was a tap.

There is a ref. However, his duties are limited. He starts the match. He does not interfere unless there is a bite or an eye-gouge. He decides whether to keep the match going based on the damage done and whether or not he thinks the bite or eye gouge was intentional. He also restarts the fighters in the same position if they end up outside the fighting area. Other than that, he does not step in until the second throws in the towel.

Video tape is available to both parties so there are not bogus claims about what really happened.

Wow Knifefighter, you are useful for something. Would you happen to have a sample consent/liability form you could share?

Real fighters fight, win or lose. Even the best lose sometime. If it goes down then props to both for walking the walk.

This is certainly true, but take anyone who only does mma who you claim sucks at fighting, and put them against someone who only does forms, and I will wager a substantial sum that the forms-player will leave the ring feet-first.

Yeah, but it is specifically written towards California personal liability laws.

I'm sure both Ross and GC have these types of forms from their MA businesses that are slanted towards NY laws.

Mike I respect some of what you say here, but realy the fight is between Ross and me not you.

Am I supposed close my schools down and loose money to boot, give me a break here,, you wouldn't inconvinience your self that way.

I said saturday at 5 PM, if it's not convinient then let ross respond not you... why should I fight on friday because saturday in no good for you because it's your wifes birthday

Are you kiding me get real if you want to be there so bad then we can move it to next saturday, but that would mean that I'm backpedalling as you say.

And also let me make one thing clear, you don't care for me or Ross so why act like you care wether we get hurt.

Personally, I think these grudge matches should go down at a sanctioned event to avoid controversy but I'm up for seeing Gus "The Gimp" Kaparos vs Dave "The Doughboy" Ross in any venue.

Knifefighter will view this comment as backpeddling by proxy but I give the edge to Dave, not for his MMA style training but because he was gearing up for another fight while Gus was mostly rehabilitating.

    Thoughts?

    Same old, same old backpedaling.

You already agreed to Friday. Here's your chance to shut me up. Show up and beat Ross and you will get a ton of respect from me. Of course, we all know you won't do that.

    Absolutely BPBP.

You are just feeding into GC's injury excuse.

So which excuse will he ultimately use? The hip? The date? The old "training brother" excuse? Or something else? I think he will run through all of these several more times and ultimately settle on the "training brother."

LMFAO at this loser. Now he's calling me at my school

He wants me to cancel my trip to take my fighters to Mohegan Sun this weekend. Sorry, I have fighters doing MMA at a major Casino, have had it set up for months.

He can't close his school to come down.... like I don't have my own business and stuff scheduled

His hip is sore, he needs to wear shoes, he wants to fight at midnight on a Wednesday with a full moon, how many f-in excuses does this guy have?

He challenged me, I said yes... now he's got 101 special conditions.... whose back peddling now?
