Hikuta threads were started months ago by regulars at this board- I didn't know of this boards existance until someone informed me of the threads.

This is an update for those interested.

Not seemingly Egyptian

The first link is to a non-Hikuta page. The second contained a link to a single Hikuat article it seemed.

The above link goes to that article. There is part of it that infers usage by guards of pharaohs. Yet seems to avoid mentioning Egypt.

From the article:
"Though the tales of the history of many arts may have been embellished through the years and can be taken with the proverbial grain of salt, their effectiveness remains unchallenged."

This paragraph says someone can lie about the origins of what they are selling and if what they are lying about is effective, then use it--buy it.

"The story of Hikuta boxing, instead, begins in the Land of the Pharoahs as depicted below. "

This looks like a challenge match (not guards defending sort of thing). Their hands are bandaged as combatants in single combat. One of the combatants has no helmet and the hair might be Greek. Three of them have what might seem to be possiblly Egyptian headpieces. The left-hand-side person (Grecian) has a bandaged hand in the chest area of the right-hand-side person (Egyptian) combatant's chest. I presumed that this was used here to demonstrate the use of the Hikuta hand (related to the article title).

However, (Hi)kuta hand supposedly comes from Defenders Of Kings (pharaohs of Egypt) yet if depicted in the art image (from the article) below, is used by a Grecian on an Egyptian.

The right-hand-side person seems to have a thin knife with a guard. If it's a dual they both might kave knives. And they are both poised with superior strikes. If the person supposedly using Hikuta hand has a knife with a guard also, the black knife might not show against the blackbody of the artwork representing the person on the right-hand-side. And the Hikuta hand might be considered to resemble a person thrustng a knife.

There seems a curve outside of the nuckles of the left-hand-side combatant's right fist (which migh be holding a knife not using empty hikuta hand).

The stlye is Grecian. Pharaoh can mean tyrant. Yet tends to refer to Kinglike title for an Egyptian ruler. No longer used after the Greeks conqured Egypt.~

Raymond took that pic from my website- HikutaCombatSystems.com. Yes it is Greek- as is at least another from my web site. The intent of those pics were to show that hand to hand fighting was a very advanced and valued skill in the ancient world.
That particular pic is of comperitive Greek boxers- the guys behind them are actually referees w/ sticks to strike the boxers for rules violations.

On the first page of my web site you will find 2 pics from ancient Egyptian origin. In these you will actually see the Kuta unique hand position as well as other unique Kuta body positioning.


All the pics from my web site were sent to Dolfzine- why they chose to use Greek instead of Egyptian pics I am not sure.
