Not true at all. "Pushing Hands" and "Iron and Silk" are two CMA movies that feature the real deal. You should see them. There are many, many JMA movie showing real swordsmanship.

By real, I mean "unenhanced by special effects, and resembling something you'd actually practice in your school." Just to clarify.

They may be fake-fu but they are still fun.

I mean it's entertainment, not a training VCD we are talking about here. And I think my fave is New Legend of Shaolin.

    talking about newer movie.

I like the "warriors of the heaven and earth".

There are a few group tactics and strategy, such as defending the caravan and a small isolated castle against larger number of opponents, etc

I like the story about carrying the She Li Zi of Buddha to Tang China.

Fearless Hyena if for nothing else besides the suspended by the feet swinging sit ups.

Kung Fu Hustle is up there, too.

    Warriors of Heaven and Earth.

I was bored to death watching the 5 deadly venoms...I know, sacrilige...

I liked once upon a time in China 2 with Donnie Yen.

As far as fake fu, Chinese kung fu movies and mysticism go hand and hand, so over-the-top fighting and effects are expected.

Iron and Silk was a good movie/book.

As far as realistic fight scenes, then watch Bourne Identity and Supremacy. Loved the fights in those movies.

Shaolin Soccer and Kung-Fu Hustle, Stephen Chow makes some classics. as fa as serious movies go, I'd say Jet Li's "Fist of Legend" or Bruce Lee's "Way of the Dragon."

Am I the only martial artist who doesnt like Bruce Lee movies?

I think the fight choreography is terrible compared to other movies made at the time...

im a super big fan of Fist of Legend and The Tai Chi Master.

but in consideration i think i might have to go with executioners from shaolin.

mainly because of Gordons heroic death scene.

I'm gonna have to disagree with you guys
I believe that Bruces choreography was
the best at that particular time and the most
realistic...even kung fu movie greats such as
Liu chia liang and Sammo hung believed so too
