so yes we have been through this beforeQuote:
I notice you call your group "Louisville Golden Gloves" but checking the official Golden Gloves website http://www.goldengloves.com/franchises/ I don't see Louisville listed. So, are you sanctioned by the GoldenGloves organization? (Just to be fair, I sent an email to the secretary of the Golden Gloves organization asking them about whether you are - but haveb't yet gotten a reply).
You say your kid is 12-1 -- in what competitons? Can you point me to where I can verify his record?
I have all of my paper work but have never hosted an event do to the lack of fighter’s interest from other clubs here in this part of town.
But I have been a part of their fighting promotions (other clubs here in Louisville) along with my fighters before I became a part of their organization.
There could be many reason why I’m not listed, and one of them I know for sure is money.
I will never speak or show boxing here again, for some reason it really make some of you guys very upset when you see my clips or hear me talk about the subject of boxing.
I will move on and just keep posting on boxing forums, only to those who know or recognize me.
Take care,
Just for kicks I looked up my boxing coach. He's a pro 10-4-1. Here's link to his stats: http://boxrec.com/list_bouts.php?hum...0061&cat=boxer
I tried looking up fight footage on him, and wasn't able to find any. Part of the problem is there are others with his name (different middle name). But seriously a 10-4-1 pro with no fights on YouTube.
The only footage of him I could find is holding mitts for Gilbert Smith.

Another friend of ours just turned pro. Here's his stats: http://boxrec.com/list_bouts.php?hum...9657&cat=boxer
Can't find either of his fights on YouTube either. But I can find all his uncle's fights: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3vI5CMBkXeU
Things you can do on your own? Speed Bag, Double End Ball and Heavy Bag all come to mind. Also try working shadow boxing into your training. Might help.
Really a lot of beneficial info.|
Wonderful data, With thanks! - http://www.viagrabelgiquefr.com/
Since this thread is active again. I posted WC vids against Karate. The way the WC guys used their guard would be the best way I can see, provided you knew you were in a fight. If he is close enough to hook you your getting hooked more than likely. But, that WC guard barehanded, would give me great difficulties using what I used in the ring. With gloves, I could deal with it much better. Well, maybe not if it was UFC gloves.
That's a good guard barehanded. Other arts may be able to exploit it better than I could have. If I used other things I could do, I have different options. But strictly boxing, I'm not good enough to get around it. Id make a hit for every 10+ I get. And walking into walls would take me out soon enough. Other boxers may do much better.
I trained in a boxing gym very briefly. It was fun enjoyed the work out.
The key to making WC work against a boxer is to actually spar with them.
Then you realize what works. Like what works against a hook ie bil sao.
How ever some people try to force the Tan Sao with a hook. Not my idea
Any way working with boxers. Not just one but different ones who have various
weights and heights give you a better advantage because sparring with different partners
Gives you an edge on the real world. Not everyone who fights you will be your height and weight.
Some may be taller and others may be smaller. An a Hook from a 6'8" man is different than a Hook
From a guy who is only 5'9". Learn to defend both. Learn timing and speed with your wing chun.
I think its important to teach how to defend against hook.
I see most WC people doing Tan Sau against a hook.
which is stupid. I am friends with boxers and most of them are bigger
A Tan Sau against those big arms would be ludicrous.
Also you have to account not all boxers throw hooks the same.
You have to account for power, angles, and speed.
Some hooks are wide because usually its novice fighter.
But the hooks of season boxer will be tighter and quicker.
Its not gonna be some long telegraph swinging arm.
How Ever i think you should defend against a skilled hook.
Now in mainland china using the tan sau on swinging arm
of a choy li fut figther may be correct. But not against
A boxer with power throwing a hook, the shape of the punch
is different and so is the power generation being used.
Also it helps if you actually sparred with boxers to know
what works. An yes i have spent time in a boxing gym.

had to share this fight for good measure. I have seen some decent applications of Wing Chun in the octagon, this guy gets busy here though,
watch for the series of blocks , and close range adaptation oof his opponents MMA style to quickly finish him. very nice look for TCMA
